According to Fabio Fallico, Board President of the APDA-Middle Tennessee Chapter, Parkinsong Nashville helps the Chapter achieve its goal of creating public awareness of a debilitating disease that strikes so many Ð including his father.

ParkinsonÕs disease slowly robs its victims of muscle control, a process that often begins with a simple trembling of the hands but which ultimately progresses to paralyze the muscles that control the basic but most vital activities, from speaking to swallowing.

This is exactly what Rob Litowitz and his sisters, Carol Golden and Debbie Frank, faced. Their mother Selma, a retired high school teacher in New Jersey, had suffered from ParkinsonÕs for 10 years when her children set out not only to pay tribute to her struggle but also to bring awareness and hope to others.

The result was ParkinSong Ð two concerts and later a star-studded CD that features the likes of Bonnie Raitt, David Crosby and Graham Nash, Greg Brown, Caitlin Cary, Kelly Willis, Alejandro Escovedo, Neko Case and Dave Alvin.  Rob Litowitz and his sisters continue to raise money to combat ParkinsonÕs disease (www.parkinsong.com).

The January 17 show will be the second ParkinSong concert held in Nashville. At the first in 2005, critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Jesse Winchester performed for a sellout crowd at the Belcourt Theatre.
