Nashville, TN – The Jimmy Dean Music Festival is returning to Richmond, VA on October 4, 2015, with the Oak Ridge Boys as headliners for the multi-act show at The Carpenter Theatre.
Jimmy Dean’s widow, Executive Producer and performer Donna Meade Dean-Stevens, made the surprise announcement to a captive audience of 800 music fans on Saturday, February 21st, at her revival of the Old Dominion Barn Dance at the Henrico Theater. Prior to the two sold out shows (starring country legend Marty Stuart), Meade confirmed the rumors that the Jimmy Dean Music Festival would indeed return to Richmond, adding she and supporting acts Brad Spivey and the Honky Tonk Experience, Lynne Carnes and newcomer Tony Jackson would also appear.
According to Dean-Stevens, the Grammy award-winning quartet was the perfect choice for the 2nd annual event. “The Oaks were long-time friends of Jimmy’s, and in fact toured as his backup vocal group before hitting the big time,” she says. “He was the first to showcase them performing their breakout hit Y’all Come Back Saloon, always praising them as consummate professionals… and they’re still as dynamic as ever!”
With one the most distinctive and recognizable sounds in the music industry, The Oak Ridge Boys have spawned dozens of country hits and reign as America’s premier country and gospel vocal quartet. Best known for their signature hit Elvira, the group has sold over 40 million records, won every major record industry award, and continues to wow audiences performing over 150 shows annually. Other hits like Bobbie Sue, American Made, Thank God for Kids and Jesus is Coming Soon have solidified the country/gospel quartet’s position in music history. Duane Allen, Joe Bonsall, Richard Sterban and William Lee Golden continue the famed lineup that has thrilled audiences since 1973.
Sponsored by The Dean Foundation and presented by the Henricus Foundation, the concert will benefit the Children’s Education Fund at Henricus Historical Park, the Richmond area living museum that re-creates everyday 17th-century life.
